2. Course description

This course will introduce and allow you to gain experience in a variety of topic areas such as outdoor activities, public services and sport. The course has a focus on practical activities; however you will be expected to also complete assignment work. You will prepare for and take part in various outdoor activities; work in a team; manage your time effectively and have a good awareness of Health & Safety. The skills developed will support you in a variety of job roles within the active leisure industry and in some public services. This course is a full time and is suitable for students 16 years or above.

3. Entry requirements

Students should have at least one of the following: •Three GCSEs at grades E or above including GCSE English And •Current College students will be expected to have successfully completed their current course of study and functional skills.

5. Assessment method

The course is delivered by specialist staff, who possess industry experience along with specialist qualifications. Teaching sessions incorporate a mixture of activities to ensure students develop skills and knowledge. Students are assessed through a combination of internally assessed coursework and externally assessed examinations. This helps students to develop core skills required for the industry which include ability to meet deadlines and retention of knowledge as well as application of skills.
