2. Course description
A general introduction to horticulture which is suitable for anyone wanting to prepare for more advanced study or a career in horticulture. You will learn about horticultural science, health and safety principles of machinery, weeds, pests and diseases. This general route also includes subjects such as plant identification, use and maintenance, greenhouse practices, turf and fruit and vegetables. Landscape practice and arboriculture modules may also be included. The course also includes lectures, classroom based work and practical sessions.
3. Entry requirements
normally a minimum of four GCSEs at grade E or above (English and Maths preferred) or a Level 1 qualification at an acceptable grade.
4. Equipment required
PPE eg Overalls, safety shoes or boots, Stationery.
5. Assessment method
Your work is assessed throughout the course, including observed assessments and written work and examination.
