2. Course description

Our Access courses are designed to enable students to achieve a qualification that provides direct access to university. It is suitable for aged 19+ students who meet the course GCSE entry criteria requirements but do not yet have a Level 3 qualification. You arestrongly advised to undertake voluntary work, work experience or employment, where possible relating to your career plan. This will support your application to higher education and provide you with relevant employability skills. Access to Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professions - Level 3 duration 1 year. You willstudy three core modules: Human Biology, Psychology and Health Studies. Access to Social Work/Social Science - Level 3 duration 1 year. You will study core modules in Psychology,Law andSocial Work each designed to provide you with acore understanding of essentialtopics you will need when you enter higher levels of study and into your chosen career pathway. You will be required to attend college for two full days (approx 6 hours each day), with an independent study day (6 hours) where you are required to complete work. Please note this is a compulsory part of the course and work will be marked as part of the assessment process. Entry requirements: 4 x GCSE grades A-C or level 4-9 ( including English and Maths) Some universities may require a GCSE Science subject.

Entry Level Programme: Skills for Life & Work No formal qualifications are required for this course, although evidence of personal progression from previous education establishments would be beneficial. These courses are specifically designed for learners with a special educational need (SEND). Entry Level Programme: Skills & Employability English & maths GCSE Grades G-U / 1 or English & maths Functional Skills Entry Level 3 GCSE Re-sit Study Programme You will receive an offer of a place on the course subject to passing an English & maths assessment. Vocational Level 1 Programme English & maths GCSE Grades E-G/1- 2 or English & mathsFunctional SkillsEntry Level 3. Vocational Level 2 Programme Minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade D/3 including mathsand English or a vocational qualification Level 1, plus GCSE grade D/3 in both maths and English. English & maths Functional Skills Level 1 will be accepted as an alternative to GCSEs. Vocational Level 3 Programme Minimum of 4 GCSEs at grades A-C/4-9 (including mathsand English) or a vocational qualificationLevel 2, plus GCSE grade C/4 in both maths and English
