2. Course description

"This course has been developed for those who wish to become a Dental Nurse. The course focuses on the technical skills and knowledge required to be a professional Dental Nurse. Units of study include direct chair-side work and support during a range of dental treatments, organisational and legal requirements which underpin high quality dental care, and the role of the dental nurse in meeting patients' needs. The course has been informed by Skills for Health (SfH) National Occupational Standards (NOS). It has been developed to meet the requirements of the General Dental Council (GDC). This qualification will enable candidates to register with the GDC as a Dental Nurse. This course is validated by the General Dental Council."

3. Entry requirements

"In order to qualify for this course, you will need at least one of the following: * 4 GCSEs at grade C (new grading system: 4/5) to include English Language. It would be beneficial for you to also have subjects such as Maths, a Science or Humanity at Grade C (new grading system: 4/5) Or * A relevant Level 2 qualification Or * Industry related experience And * A secured placement in a GDC registered dental practice The College will always treat each applicant as an individual. Should you not have or not expect to obtain the grades stated above, or not have relevant industry related experience, the College would still welcome your application for this course as this will enable us to identify whether this course is, in fact, the right course for you or whether another course may be more appropriate. Please note: To gain access to this course you will need to go through a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. If you have criminal convictions or cautions, please do not be put off from applying for the course. Your acceptance on to the course will depend on the nature of any convictions and will be at the discretion of the College and your placement provider."
