2. Course description

This programme provides a specialist work-related programme of study that covers the key knowledge, understanding and practical skills required in the construction and built environment sector and also offers particular specialist emphasis through the choice of specialist units. Modules studied: Design Principles and Application for Construction and the Built Environment, Science and Materials for Construction and the Built Environment, Group Project in the Construction Industry, Health, Safety and Welfare for Construction and the Built Environment, Applied Mathematics for Construction and the Built Environment, Building Services Design, Installation and Maintenance in Construction, Environmental Impact of Construction, Computer-aided Design for Construction. Students will, on average, receive twelve to fifteen hours contact time per week through a series of seminars, tutorials and workshops. Personal study also forms an integral part of the course.

3. Entry requirements

120 points in a related subject. Plus 5 GCSEs including maths at grade C or above. Due to changes in GCSE grading those students who took their GCSEs in 2017 will require maths at grade 4 or above. Other subjects to be considered must be grade C or above. Please note that from September 2017 changes to the UCAS system means learners will need 48 points.

4. Equipment required

You will require Personal Protective Equipment, If you are aged 16-18 this will be provided for you. If you are over 18 you will be required to purchase your own PPE
