Missed out on University ? This is your opportunity to re-enter the world of education and gain that degree that you deserve. This Access course enables you to go on to university after a year of study at Barking & Dagenham College where you will gain an Access to HE Diploma. You will be introduced to the particular knowledge and codes of practice required for those entering the Social Work profession. You need to be aware that Maths GCSE and English will be required for progression to vocational training.

3. Entry requirements

You must have an appropriate level of skills in communication and numeracy. You will need to demonstrate these skills by taking a diagnostic assessment prior to admission. You will be invited to an interview. You must have had some experience in the Social work field - either voluntary or paid work in the past few years or be willing to gain experience during the course. You need to have one year's voluntary or paid experience within a social services context.

5. Assessment method

Assessment is continuous throughout the year. You will complete essays, projects and practial assignments as well as tests and examinations. All units are graded as a pass, merit or distinction and students must obtain at least 60 credits of which 45 must be at level 3.
