2. Course description

All our courses are designed to cover the full range of topics and tasks as laid down by the awarding body in response to industry requirements. All practical activities are carried out within our state of the art workshops with theory work being a mix of classroom and assignment activities. The course consists of assessment units which assess the competence of a candidate over a wide range of activities. There will be a high emphasis on Health and Safety and correct working methods. The Unit titles are: 1 Structure of the Construction Industry 2 Fundamental safe working practices 3 Environmental and sustainability measures in domestic dwellings 4 Site preparation or working in the construction industry 5 Carry Electrical Installation wiring and terminations 6 Fabrication techniques for Electrical Installations 7 Electrical science and technology

3. Entry requirements

Interview. Two GCSE subjects at grade E or better or equivalent to include Maths. Satisfactory School/College report/written test.

5. Assessment method

Assessment of the skills attained during the course will be short practical electrical assemblies which are assessed by the tutor. Tutor marked short written tests will be used to provide evidence of electrical basic theory required by the awarding body. Student produced portfolios will be assessed by the college and City and Guilds.
