The First Diploma programme provides a range of important Level 2 units which build your knowledge, confidence and opportunities for that future valuable career. This programme also aims to improve your English and Maths through Functional Skills sessions - both important areas when considering a future career in care. The opportunity also to complete a Diploma in Employability Skills provides you with an additional qualification and a good understanding of the main qualities required by someone keen to be employed in the care world of work. To qualify at Level 2 you have to successfully achieve all units, including the Functional Skills To progress and be considered for the next level on your career path, you MUST achieve an overall MERIT. Because this career requires reliable people, we also expect good attendance, punctuality and a caring considerate attitude, all of which are taken into account when considering your progression to the next important Level 3 programme. 3. Entry requirements

You are required to have four GCSEs grade D-G. All applicants are expected to undertake an on-line diagnostic assessment of their current level of literacy and numeracy, and have good written and spoken English. Functional Skills in English is an important part of this programme and one which employers are keen to know has been achieved by potential employees. The Level 2 Employability Skills is also an important addition, of interest to employers. You need to be 16-18 years of age.

5. Assessment method

You will produce a portfolio of work that is assessed which may include projects, assignments, case studies, presentations, observations and coursework. You will also sit two written exams during the course. Students are allocated a Personal Coach who will provide support and guidance at regular intervals during the course.
